WHY IS MIPS SAFER?

MIPS stands for Multidirectional Impact Protection Systems. In simplest terms, adding MIPS to the same helmet adds protection. There are two main types of forces that cause damage to the head in a crash, linear and rotational. Helmets historically have focused on the linear force by reducing the impact and cushioning the blow, however the rotational force impact is still in play. MIPS was designed to address this by creating a system that allows the helmet to rotate in multiple directions upon impact meaning the helmet moves before the user's head.
